MJ, a young lady in her late teens was traveling between states in an Africa country. The cost of a public inter state transport was 30 box, but her dad gave her an additional 50 box for Intra state transport, food, gifts and other things as deemed necessary. In her usual smart ideas, MJ had her own plans to get a free ride, so she get to keep all the money. Aren, her childhood friend lives in the same city and has an uncle who works in the urban city MJ is visiting. Aren’s uncle visits his family every weekend and leaves for work again every Monday. It was a perfect timing, because Aren’s uncle came home to see his family this weekend and will be leaving for work early Monday morning. MJ’s plan was successful and they both set out for the state “L” at about 6 am. The journey took about an hour. Chatting all the way with her friend’s uncle, MJ was thinking about how lavishly she is going to spend and enjoy life with the saving from her transport fare. When it was about 10 minutes to get to their destination, MJ started looking for the money from her bag. She didn’t find it, but thought she would have more time to look for it when she gets to state L. Thank God for a safe drive. She alighted from the car at about 7 am, thanked her friend’s uncle with a warm goodbye. She now searched her bags thoroughly for the money at this time because she needed to take a local transport to her final destination. Alas! She could not find the money. Oh my God! Thought MJ. I cannot walk 20 kilometers to get to my final destination, reaffirmed MJ. So many questions was going through her mind, no mobile phones to call anyone. It was hustle and bustle in this metropolitan city. Everyone was going about their daily lives; street hawkers, road traders, corporate men and women, school children, public buses, cabs etc. It was a busy morning as usual. There was a big motor park where she was and the noise from the bus drivers and their assistant was a nightmare. MJ decided to approach and ask one of those corporate looking guys for 10 box to get on the bus. From the first up to the tenth person she spoke to, it was rain of abuses, curses, suspicion, bad look etc. With a big disappointment from the “so called corporate” guys, she started crying. Will crying solve my problem? she asked herself. No!. At this time, she saw a driver assistant popularly called conductor, in tattered clothes and unassuming , shouting and calling passengers on to his bus . She asked him for 10 box. Without any hesitation, he went for his pocket and handed a 10 box note to MJ. He then stopped another bus driven by his colleague and plying the same route as MJ . He said to the other conductor ” please do not collect transport fare from her, she is my sister” MJ hopped on the bus, became so emotional and thanked her ‘new brother'(conductor) exceedingly. She was so touched by his kindness. Lesson learnt:
1. You make a plan but the best of planner, the supreme makes it work.
2. Always tell people that matter to you( parents, spouse, sibling etc) things they need to know about you. It could be a result of not telling her dad that made her not to find the money.
3. Your help may come from where you never expected. Do not prejudge. Have an open mind when you need help.
Folks! Have an open mind when you need help. May God open for us ways where there seems to be none amen
