Any act of kindness is never small”
On the beautiful morning of Sunday the 28th of May 2017, Kenny sat in the arena of the Gatwick international airport waiting to board a flight to Toronto, after a 4 days trip to attend the funeral of a dear friend who lost the battle to cancer. May his soul RIP. As Kenny seated waiting for boarding to commence, an elderly couple showed up and were looking for a seat. With their hand luggage and extra bags, she could tell that they were tired and needed to seat. At this time, there was an empty seat beside her and the woman quickly took that. she looked at the man who felt a little disappointed that there was no other seat for him. The flight was full to the brim because of the number of people at this boarding gate. Kenny immediately offered to give her seat to him despite the fact that she was very tired herself . He thanked her and sat next to his wife. They waited for about 20 minutes before the flight was ready for boarding. Coincidentally Kenny was to be in the same zone on the air plane with this couple. They were the last set of people to be called, and so Kenny decided to go to the washroom and left her hand luggage unattended. By the way, this is not acceptable at the airport for reasons well known to everyone . She took longer at the washroom and behold this couple were already in line but the wife held on to Kenny’s hand luggage waiting for her to show up. She released the hand luggage as soon as Kenny got there. she thanked her exceedingly. Kenny was so touched by the action of this elderly woman for the following reasons:
1. She didn’t tell the couple that she was going to the washroom, neither
2. Did she tell them to watch her bag. She couldn’t have done so for security reasons
3. They didn’t know the kind of person Kenny was especially considering the stereotype for Muslims as terrorist. This was very visible because of her veil.
4. They were white and she is black. There is a stereotype there.
The lessons learned are
A. Little help counts, so mount them if you can. You will be rewarded in multi folds
B. Do not be stereotypical . There are good and bad people. Remember! A bad man will give a bad name to his race, even if the race consists of a host of angels. A man is a man and a race, a race. Treat every human being as you want to be treated.
C. Do not be racist. We are all the same in the face of our creator. Black, white or brown; we are a beautiful creation of God.
D. Accept strangers. Do not prejudge them. They are friends you just met and may be friends you will ever meet.
Folks! Please look for someone to show kindness to, and God will show you His goodness in all areas amen. Have a blessed weekend.
